2/9/2005 - Positioning algorithm

The past week each member was assigned specific tasks in finishing the schematics for the final prototype design. A project breakdown with deadlines was made for the team. During this time the team met twice to discuss about the positioning algorithms that is to be used in our system. A new business plan was presented after making the changes form Bluetooth to RF. Last week most of the time was spent on working on the schematic design and getting ready to build the system.

Omar Elsahy:

• Compiled all sections of Business Plan
• Facilitated a meeting with graduate student, Abijit and assigned tasks (Copying of schematic and design of previous breadboard circuit by Anand)
• Outlined and documented testing procedure to be performed
• Researched equipment and parts to be ordered by team in upcoming two weeks

Fernando Souto:
• Researched on different RFID companies
• Re-wrote the market analysis for the new project.
• Researched on the interfaces required by the PIC, RS232 Chips and Displays.
• Worked on the PSPICE design for the microcontroller.

Aldwin Saugere:
• Started Implementing the Graphical User Interface
• Designed the database prototype
• Started implementing the positioning algorithm

Ajit Gaddam:
• Finished updating Business Plan focusing on IR technology.
• Research on programming the PIC micro controller
• Working on PIC Program implementation for prototype
• Software testing of the code generated and its implementation

Anand Mehta:
• Consulted with Prof. Gutierrez and Larry Buist on possible problems with RF RSSI accuracy. Discussed solutions and alternatives.
• Completed development of AP and SerComm code as per project requirements
• RF transciever interfacing code development is underway
• Have laid down necessary component interfaces in order for the hardware team to design and construct operating circuit.
• Updated Business Plan as per Project Leaders requirements.

Milinda Wathugala:
• Research on programming the PIC micro controller
• Worked on the PSPICE design for the LCD
• Working on PIC Program implementation for prototype

Thanujan Ratnarajah:
• Created a project breakdown
• Worked on the new Business plan
• Made the schematics of the RF transceiver and the external components
