10/20/2004 - Bluetooth development kits

Last weeks meetings were used to further understand the relevance of purchasing a Bluetooth development kit. We looked into the different Software Development Kits so that we could purchase one that could fulfil our needs. With the research that was done we got a better understanding of the difference of an API and SDK. Also, we looked at the different positioning algorithms, and attempted to choose one that was appropriate to our needs. Another point we discussed was a basic model of the tag and receiver design.

Omar Elsahy:
• Extensive Research of Bluetooth Development Kit, API and SDK Comparisons
• Further design of Gantt Chart
• Writing and Estimation of items to be issued on Bill of Materials
• Establishing possible preliminary Design Model Candidates
• Research of BQB Protocol Stack and relevance to SDK
• Talk to Authority on procedures required to obtain funding
• Finalize and submit Business Plan

Fernando Souto:

• Researched more on Bluetooth Development Kits
• Discussed with some experienced people about Bluetooth
• Developed a basic initial system model
• Revised the Business Plan for finalization
• Revised the organizational chart

Ajit Gaddam:

• Worked on the organizational chart
• Searched for cheaper Bluetooth SDK’s.
• Furthered my understanding of APIs and their relevance to our project
• Understood the API java open source

Aldwin Saugere:

• Worked on redesigning the web site

• Researched on the power consumption part of the project

• Looked into the signal range

• Researched on the wireless network protocol

Anand Mehta

• Researched more on the different available Bluetooth Development kits
• Researched more on the effect of temperature on Bluetooth chips
• Looked into positioning module for Bluetooth
• Revised the Business plan for finalization

Milinda Wathugula

• Looked into possibility of Bluetooth 2.0 being available for purchase but unfortunately it is not.
• Also looked into the difference in API s and SDKs for the project.
• Made the conclusion that APIs are included in SDKs therefore we should get a SDK
• Also looked into the different Development Kits available

Thanujan Ratnarajah

• Looked into Bluetooth kits with different SDK
• Contacted some experienced people regarding signal processing
• Further Compared different types of Bluetooth development kits
• Worked on the Gantt chart

• Worked more on the Business plan and finalized it for submitting
